Family:

My parents, Karl and Margaret, lived into their 90s. Their first and only grandchild, my son Alex, was born when they were eighty years old. They had to live into their 90s to get to know their grandson! Alex Seitz-Wald grew up with me in Santa Monica, attended Milton Academy and graduated from Brown University in 2008. He works in Washington, DC at www.thinkprogess.com as a reporter/blogger and has appeared three times on television! My brother Karl, a 1957 graduate of North, lives in Santa Fe. He has a PhD in intellectual history and is a Life Coach.

I married Richard Anderson in 2008. He is the CEO and owner of Village Soup And Village Net Media, (www.knoxvillagesoup.com)newspaper and
online companies.

Education:

BA Barnard College
MA NYU

Career:

I am a writer, producer and professional coach. I have over 30 years experience as a creative executive in the publishing, television and film industries, in both LA and NYC. I have been coaching private clients and teaching Method Writing –a technique developed by Jack Grapes, award winning LA poet and playwright—for nine years. I have been published in Evergreen Review, Lear’s Magazine, Onthebus, Method Mad (a magazine I created with my students) and The Herald Gazette, Camden, Maine.

I have worked as an editor in publishing and as a Creative Executive and Vice President at television networks, film studios, cable networks and toy companies. I developed books, film and TV projects, oversaw production, and worked with writers of all genres.
My students benefit from my years of experience. This is perhaps the most gratifying work I have done in my life, and it only gets better with each new client. As much as I teach my students, they teach me. My own writing improves every day because of my connection to them.

In the last thirty years, I have been on a spiritual journey. I have studied all the world’s great religions and practiced Buddhism, Christianity and Hinduism. Inevitably these studies and practice have an effect upon my own teaching and coaching. My spiritual journey is my life’s path and it is my intention to live as a spiritual person in the material world, whether in a large multi-national corporation or in a small group of writers. I bring that intention to every encounter I have with a client.

Happy Birthday Adam! Just read your profile. What an accomplished family you have. My son just got married, a month ago, to a woman whose parents met at Harvard Medical School! Lucia, my daughter-in-law grew up just outside San Francisco where her parents have been in public health for years. Her mom just retired. Her sister also went to Harvard Medical School, practices in San Diego, and is studying infectious diseases. I think she's about to travel to an African country to continue her studies. Look at me playing Jewish Geography and I'm not even Jewish. Carry on in your wonderful life, Adam!

Hi Nancy,

Lovely photos. Lovely children. Your sons are impressive as is your work. I am writing a short story right now about a woman in her forties who is searching for her daughter whom she "gave away" when she was eighteen, back in the dark ages. Have you read(I'm sure you have) a book called The Girls Who Went Away? About the young women, who, before abortion was legal, had children and gave them away. These were the young high school students who "went away" for a couple of months. And we never knew what happened to them.

I'm also writing a novel about raising a son on my own while working in the Hollywood environment. I'd love to hear more about your book.

I love introducing couples and I wish I knew someone in your area but, for the moment, I don't. But lots of luck looking for a guy. I fell in love and got married at 66.

Cheers,
Kathrin (Jane) Seitz

I haven't seen Fred since our Great Issues class with Gary Price in our senior year of high school, but he made a lasting impression on me. When I think of him, I smile. Every day in class, he made us laugh at the absurdity of our lives as we lived them. Just knowing he was alive somewhere on the planet, made life better. Yet given his belief in the mysterious, I am sure he is floating around us, laughing and making wise comments. Thank you Fred!!
