Profile Updated: January 29, 2012
Residing In: Boca Raton, FL USA
Occupation: Retail
Family:

I am a widow and have two daughters Jill and Amy who each have two daughters Lainey, Jessica, Emily and Rebecca. Lots of girls. I am also lucky that my mother is still alive and is 95, lives alone and still drives. My older daughter Jill lives in Ellsworth Maine and my younger daughter Amy just moved from Wisconsin to central New York State. My daughter Jill is an Assistant Principal of a public high school in Sullivan Maine and Amy makes beautiful handmade fabric cards for any kind of special event. Her company is called Pretty Pear Designs and it is worth a look on Etsy.com. I am really proud of both my girls and son in laws. One is in banking and the other is a Mechanical Engineer. They come to Florida in the winter. I wonder why that is? My daughters are both graduates of Great Neck Nr HS and it was always fun to see some of my teachers on open school night. I am in touch with many classmates and speak to Pat Jaffe Gruenstein about twice a week. We have been friends for fifty five years.

Education:

I am a graduate of Adelphi University and also attended graduate school at Adelphi for Secondary Education.

Career:

I have had many careers over the years but most have been in retail where I owned my own stores and worked for others. I also had a Community Association Managers license in Florida which allowed me to be abused by residents in Condo Associations. I did start out as an art teacher but gave up teaching for twenty two years and then I was a substitute for the NYC school system.

Lifelong Hobbies:

I collect pottery, eye cups and grow orchids. I have about seventy orchid plants. One advantage to living in Florida is that things grow really fast. When I go to Maine I enjoy kayaking and hiking, well not too much hiking. I also bowl in a league and did play golf but I was pretty bad.

Community Activities:

When I lived in Great Neck I was Vice President of the Sisterhood of Temple Beth- El and also served on the Adult Education advisior committee.

Comments:

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family and they are my highest achievement in life. My daughter's went through a lot because they lost their father when they were teenagers but despite the hardships they turned out to be wonderful human beings who I am extremely proud of.

Did You Graduate From North Or South?

North

Elementary School Info:

I moved to GN in the middle of 1st grade and went to Arrandale. In the second grade I went to EM Baker and had Mrs. McDonald who became principal of Baker years later. Baker only went up to the 3rd grade and I had Mrs. Weiss. Fourth grade I went back to Arrandale and I think I had Mrs. Sanders. Fifth grade I had Miss Maltby and sixth I had Mr. Healy

I spent a lot of time with Harry in HS. We doubled dated many times and we always had fun. What I remember the most was his parents basement. His father collected armor and there were even life size dummies dressed as knights   It was kind of scary   He will be missed
