Elementary School Info:
Lakeville School
I remember my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Bradford (I believe). She was my favorite. Followed in 6th by Miss Luce. My memory is that she was a totally out-of-touch witch (with a B) who left childhood scars. Did anyone else feel that way, I wonder?
I remember how school was enriched by wood and metal shop, Home Ec (even for the boys, which was very progressive in those days), and social dancing. Learning to use a sewing machine to make a marionette has stood me in good stead.
I still use a sewing machine. It's not been quite as important as junior high typing turned out to be, but it has been useful.
It was a really big deal to move from the small wooden building on Lakeville Rd. to (what seemed) the gigantic, brick building behind it.
