Carol and I were life-long friends. Her mother ans mine knitted baby clothes on a park bench on Riverside Drive before we were born. We lived a block apart on West End Ave. Our families left Manhattan for Great Neck a few years apart and Carol and I reconnected in high school. Although we lived in different places, we kept in close touch in our adult lives. Neither of us had a sister but we both had a wonderful girl friend. I cannot quite imagine not having Carol in my life.
